Depart Georgetown (Region 4) on an early morning drive along the northern coastline of Guyana in a westerly direction for approximately 1 hour 40 mins to the mouth of the Essequibo River at a village named Parika. The Essequibo River is the largest river between the Amazon and Orinoco flowing for an approximate 630 miles (1,010 km) through savannahs and forests to the Atlantic Ocean. After arriving at Parika, a passenger boat is boarded for a thrilling boat ride for an approximate (1 hour 15 minutes) up the Essequibo River to a town named Bartica in (Region 7), where another passenger boat is boarded boat that takes you up the Mazaruni river, which is a tributary of the Essequibo River. The source of the Mazaruni river is in the remote western Rainforests of the Pakaraima mountains. After departing Bartica for an approximate 1 hour 20-minute adventure boat ride, you will arrive at a location on the right bank of the lower Mazaruni river where one can Enjoy a (25-minute) tranquil and peaceful hike in the rainforest through a trail that leads to an ancient waterfall called "Marshall Falls". These lovely fast-flowing cascades, deep in the jungle, are wonderfully interactive; you can clamber under them, swim in various pools, take massage-showers as the golden-brown water thumps your back or just chill in a natural 'Jacuzzi'.
